School Social Work Week

Mar 01, 2018 | Community Relations

School Social Workers play a vital role on the educational team, working with administrators, teachers, counselors, psychologists, nurses, speech and language pathologists and other staff. Their unique training enables them to understand and interpret the influences of the school, home and community on children.

School Social Workers identify factors that can make school a more successful experience for students. School social workers help students to  achieve the maximum benefit from their educational opportunities, to cope with stress and help develop a student’s decision-making skills.

School social workers help parents to effectively participate in their children’s education, help parents meet a child’s emotional needs and help parents understand the programs available to students with special needs.

National School Social Work Week is an opportunity to focus attention on the unique contribution of school social workers in our schools. National School Social Week highlights the tremendous impact school social workers can have in helping students achieve school success. National School Social Work Week is celebrated the first full week in March.
