Considering the recent concerns surrounding school safety, the District and the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees would like to ensure that every student, staff, and community member understands the various safety precautions that have already been in place as well as those that have been recently implemented.
HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING TO KEEP YOUR KIDS SAFE
• Designated Single point of Entry at the main entrance of each campus.
• Visitor Screening and Registration using the Raptor Visitor Management System for
all campuses and facilities.
• Locked and/or Access Controlled all exterior doors and intruder locks on all interior
classroom doors.
• Security Fencing for Elementary campuses.
• District video surveillance security camera system standard for campus, facility, and
bus monitoring.
• District SMART Tag System for Student Tracking on campus and Lamar CISD buses.
• District telephone in every classroom.
• Security Officers on Secondary and Elementary campuses with specialized training
promoting campus safety and security.
• Skylert Quick Tip (QR code) for Real-time reporting of a safety concern.
• Skylert safety notifications to parents/guardians in the event of a safety occurrence.
• Standard Response Protocol (SRP) Drills that focus on campus security and
evacuation procedures.
• Screening of Social Media platforms for potential threats.
WHAT ADDITIONAL MEASURES WE ARE TAKING?
• All students, staff, and visitors are required to wear and have their ID Badges visible.

during instruction.

• Upgrading Radio system and infrastructure for district-wide interoperability.
• Activating additional components of the emergency notification system which will
allow staff to initiate emergency action.
